About the Author
Médecin, engagé dans l'action humanitaire, Jean-Christophe Rufin a occupé plusieurs postes de responsabilités à l'étranger, notamment celui d'ambassadeur de France au Sénégal. Nourrie par son expérience internationale et centrée sur la rencontre des civilisations, son oeuvre littéraire se partage en deux courants. Avec L'Abyssin, son premier roman publié en 1997, Rouge Brésil, qui lui a valu le prix Concourt en 2001, ou Le grand Coeur, qui a rencontré un très vaste public, il explore une veine historique, toujours reliée aux questions actuelles. Avec Clobalia, Le parfum d'Adam, Katiba, Immortelle randonnée (sur les chemins de Compostelle) et Check-point, Jean- Christophe Rufin crée des univers romanesques contemporains qui éclairent l'évolution de notre monde. L'écriture vivante de Jean-Christophe Rufin, pleine de suspense et d'humour, a séduit un large public tant en France que dans les nombreux pays où ses livres sont traduits. Il a été élu à l'Académie française en 2008.
