About the Author
Jean Starobinski, né en 1920 à Genève, a été interne dans divers hôpitaux, en particulier dans les services de psychiatrie, puis docteur en médecine. Il a également été professeur de littérature française aux Etats-Unis avant d'être professeur d'Histoire des Idées à la Faculté des Lettres de l'Université de Genève.
