Synopsis
Ce roman relate des événements qui se sont déroulés au début du XXIe siècle. Le président d'une institution financière internationale est accusé de viol par une femme de chambre d'origine africaine. Il est incarcéré pendant quelques jours dans une prison du continent américain. Libéré sous caution, les poursuites sont finalement abandonnées. A la suite de cet incident, sa carrière est brisée et son épouse demande le divorce. Une histoire anodine. Seule la célébrité dont semblait jouir l'accusé à cette époque a pu pousser quelqu'un à s'en emparer. Cette affaire s'est effacée des réseaux avec le temps. Quelques copeaux d'articles de presse nous amènent cependant à supposer un fond de réalité à ce récit dont un exemplaire a été exhumé intact du fond d'un gouffre. Si vous êtes contemporain des faits dont il s'inspire, c'est peut-être celui que vous tenez entre vos mains.
