Fifteen years ago my son Luther died and it changed me forever. This is the story of how I learned to live with the loss and how I learned to thrive despite the impact Luther's death had on me. I came to realize that the only choice I had left was to choose how I was going to live with the loss. So I chose to learn to live again. Once I figured out how to survive the loss I felt like I could do anything. So, I decided to turn my life in to something magical. I wrote this book so that other bereaved parents would know that they are not alone in feeling crazy with the loss of their child. I want to share my journey so that others can find their way back to the light from the darkness of their grief. Recovering from the loss of a child is so much harder than it looks. I want people to know that they don't have to suffer in silence and that they can find joy again.For me a big part of my recovery has been my connection to my son on the other side. Within the book is the story of how I developed my relationship with my son after he passed. I share with readers how I learned to recognize signs from my son on the other side. This was an important part of my recovery. I had no faith to fall back on when my son passed. I had to choose to believe. It was the best decision I ever made. I began writing this book 2 years after my son passed, it was the only place I could be real about my feelings. Writing this book saved me, that is the truth. I had no other place to share my pain. My hope is that reading my story will help other bereaved parents find comfort, knowing they are not alone in their struggle to overcome the loss of their child.
