Chatting with the Bible: 70 Short Stories based on Scripture from the Old & New Testaments - Softcover
Synopsis
I thought that it would be interesting to see what would happen if I collaborated with ChatGPT to write a short book based on Biblical stories. I carefully and thoughtfully chose stories from the Old and New Testaments based on my own familiarity and those that especially spoke to me. I read the original texts to review them for content and consistency and edited the stories where I thought it was appropriate. I suggested that ChatGPT emphasize themes or make connections between stories that I saw.
For each story I wrote my own reflections. Some are based on my experiences as a psychologist with my clients. I’m always indebted to my clients, as what I have learned from them has made me a better person. They are a blessing. Some reflections are based on my experience as a professor, as teaching Psychology has required me to have a thorough knowledge of the major theorists and developments in a field that strives to understand the human psyche and how to intervene in effective ways to help alleviate suffering.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Many of the short stories in this book are based on Bible stories that will be familiar to you. Some may be less so. Prior to each story, I included scriptural passages that the story is based on. I gave careful thought to which version of the Bible I would use for the Scriptural passages. I wanted to make it inclusive to all Christians, not just those who share my Catholic faith, as I believe we have much more in common than what separates us. I also had to consider pragmatic issues, as some of the editions have copyright restrictions. I chose to go with The Christian Standard Bible, as it is acceptable for personal study although it does not include some books that are in Catholic editions. The stories that I chose to draw on for this book do not include passages from those books. I recognize that using AI to write stories is controversial. I understand both sides of this issue. I would state that for this project, the collaboration between ChatGPT and me has produced a final product that enhances what I would have been able to do by myself, although I still see myself clearly reflected in the final outcome. I suggest that you give the book a chance and decide for yourself if you think that what is produced here is worthwhile. This book contains 70 Short Stories Based on Biblical Scripture from the Old and New Testaments created in collaboration with ChatGPT.
