I went to a bush out in the forest full of dark green trees. I thought I heard something in the forest. It was a crack like someone or something stepped on a stick. What was that noise? I wondered. “Jay is that you?” I whispered into the darkness. My palms started to sweat. Then there was a smell. The smell of blood. Whose blood? Then I remembered I was little. I had fallen off a swing. The taste of my own blood was strong, and I could smell the blood in my mouth along with the taste of the dirt I had swallowed. The blood I smelled, it smelled like mine. But how? What had happened? How could I smell my own blood? Then I felt something trickling down my back. It was warm. What is it? I wondered. I wanted to turn around, but I was afraid of what I would see. Was it just my imagination?
