This novel is a revision and an enlargement of our book entitled "Electric Generators." That volume was an amplification of the notes of a series of lectures give, first by Mr. Parshall and continued by Mr. Hobart, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, some years ago. The first section demonstrates the design of magnetic circuits, focusing specifically on the nature and properties of the different qualities of iron and steel. The second sub-division considers the phenomena of commutation and the study of dimensions, with a view to securing the greatest output without diminishing the efficiency. The the third section corresponds with the 'Thermal Limit of Output." The fourth sub-division primarily covers alternators, and the fifth goes into more detail with alternators, but specifies in the generators for steam-turbine speeds. Lastly, part six defines a continuous current dynamos for steam turbine speeds. Together, these sections provide a basic overview on the design of Electric Generators.
