About the Author

Karen Laing is the CEO of Health Literacy for All, Inc. She started on this journey seven years ago when her life took a sudden spin out of control. She found herself at the age of 45 a devoted Christian who was now separated, a single mom, and unemployed. She went back to college where she studied public health. During her internship, she discovered that only 1 in 10 people understood how to navigate the health care system or how to make healthy choices at home (a set of skills called Health Literacy). After college she launched a business and then a non-profit aimed to help people improve their health literacy skills. She teaches classes on health literacy, healthy living, and health advocacy.
