About the Author

Dale Benson, MD, is Certified as a Physician Executive by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association for Physician Leadership. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Physician Executives and served a term as the President of he College. In addition he has also chaired the Certifying Commission in Medical Management. For 12 years he was a field consultant and surveyor for the ambulatory division of the Joint Commission. His most recent position has been Vice President of Innovation, Quality, and Practice Management and Director of the Leadership Development Institute for AltaMed Health Services in Los Angeles. He was the founder, and for thirty years, the CEO of HealthNet, a large community health center network in Indianapolis. In the late '90s, he was employed as a Vice President of the Mercy Health System in Chicago.
