Synopsis
Abner was never meant to survive.
When Esther’s failure to kill the prince brings death to the ones she loves most, she must become more than a survivor. Pulled into a court where every choice carries unseen costs, Esther is forced to navigate a world built to expose her. Discovery would mean death. Death would be the easier outcome.
Starved for respect and demanding consequence, Prince Abner believes control is the only path to peace. He plays the role relentlessly, but as the cost of maintaining that facade grows, the weight of spilled blood hangs heavy on him. Eventually, his world, and everything he thought he wanted, collapses beneath it.
Bound by the violence of the past, Esther and Abner must confront the cost of power, the seduction of control, and whether one must become like the monster in order to slay the beast.

About the Author
K. M. Evans writes epic fantasy that centers power, consequence, and the cost of survival. Her work explores morally gray characters, political pressure, and the way people are shaped, or broken, by the systems they serve. She lives in North Dakota with her husband, two children, and two dogs. Like Our Enemies is her debut novel and the first of a trilogy.
