"As the murderous Carinan aliens flooded through the vast nebula toward the main base they killed every human from the intragalactic expedition they encountered... and the young Sojourner monk named Greymalkin Thomas was stranded in the center of the nebula alone without a spacecraft... between two colliding stars."
The quest of Brother Greymalkin Thomas and his companions to explore the enigmas of the distant Eta Carinae cluster continues in Pilgrim, the second book of the Sojourner Saga series of novels and the conclusion of the Carinae Quest duology. As Greymalkin delves deeper into the terrifying Carinae realm, he encounters many grotesque new enemies and dangers, but also unimagined treasures and allies. If he is to survive the Carinae, the young Sojourner monk will be forced to endure gruesome ordeals and suffer excruciating losses in blood and sacrifice. But if he holds true to his course and commitments, he will learn the inconceivable secrets that lie in wait at the heart of the Carinae.
The Sojourner Saga novels are set in the distant future when humanity has long since colonized the stars and thousands of scattered civilizations have collapsed throughout forgotten regions of the Galaxy. Dedicated to aiding these collapsed civilizations, Sojourners are a scientific Order of interstellar monks. Inspired by the Chinese classic Journey to the West, the Sojourner Saga novels are fast-paced adventures of ideas, set in an expansive interstellar future of human, alien, and cybernetic societies.
