Synopsis
Across worlds torn by centuries of war between humans and vampires, a new weapon was born-hybrids known as sentients. Forced to battle vampires on Earth 4, their struggles are aired for entertainment to Earth 3, a world untouched by war.
Pauline, a sharp-tongued journalist, sees sentients as humanity's greatest mistake. Her controversial remarks catch the attention of her editor, who assigns her to interview a sentient recovering in an orbital hospital. Refusal means losing her job.
But Jacobi is nothing like the mindless brute she expected. Built for war, yet disarmingly sincere, he challenges everything she thought she knew. What begins as mutual hostility twists into a dangerous attraction.
Yet Jacobi harbors a secret that could cost him his life and endangers countless other sentients. As tension simmers between them, Jacobi fears that Pauline might uncover the truth. All the while, he battles a growing hunger for her blood.
