1996年夏天,作者陈平因与友人傅国涌共同撰写一篇讨论宪法问题的文章,被公安机关逮捕。在没有公开审判、没有辩护程序的情况下,他被送入看守所,随后进入劳教所。
《劳教杂记》记录的,正是这段经历。
作者以鲜活、细致而又冷静的笔触,记述了1996-1997年间在看守所与劳教所中的真实生活:拥挤的囚室、严格而荒诞的日常制度、囚徒之间复杂的等级秩序,以及高墙之内形形色色的人物。在这个封闭的世界里,制度、权力与人性的关系被一点一点呈现出来。
书中没有宏大的叙述,而是通过几十个真实故事,记录了看守所与劳教所中的生活片段,如《白面馒头》《让我杀谁我杀谁》《拉屎的烦恼》《臭气治理》《女人味》《黑社会实录》等。具体而生动的细节中,一个几乎不为外界所知的社会逐渐显现。
劳动教养制度自1955年建立,在中国存在近六十年,直至2013年才被正式废除。《劳教杂记》不仅是一部个人经历的记录,也是一份关于这一制度的第一手历史见证。
历史不仅存在于档案之中,也存在于个体的记忆里。

About the Author
陈平,山西太原市人,生于1954年9月。1972年12月加入铁道兵8711部队,1978年复员到太原印刷厂工作,先后任团委书记、车间书记。1985年考入北京大学法律系,1987年毕业进入山西省社科院,担任《经济问题》编辑部党支书记,1989年7月因发表"停止参加党组织任何活动"的声明被开除党籍,转到山西省社科院政法所工作。2003年1月48岁被退休。现与家人生活在太原。
