Fiasco Farm is a charming story about a piece of land nestled in a small hidden valley of hill country in northern New England which dates back to the nineteenth century. By the mid-twentieth century, the farm had become a weekend and summer home for a banker from Boston, and subsequently for the author's father. The author, James V. Bibbo III, then had a dream to "reestablish the farm."
No one would have suspected that this self-described middle-aged school superintendent would toss in the towel on a long career as an educator and school administrator and take to farming in the mountains. And, although he gave it his full attention, as time wore on the author's year-round home became affectionately known as "Fiasco Farm" to those who knew Mr. Bibbo and his lack of farming expertise!
Regardless of the obstacles necessary to overcome, James V. Bibbo III knew a good story when he lived one! With skittish goats, challenging pig roundups, a growing dog population, and horses in search of greener pastures, the humor is palpable and well-related by Mr. Bibbo's use of vivid imagery and colorful descriptions.
More than anything, Fiasco Farm is one man's journey to making dreams come true while recognizing that it is not always easy to live one's dream.
JAMES V. BIBBO III was born and raised in Sleepy Hollow, New York and now lives in New Hampshire. He is a graduate of New England College, Plymouth State, and the University of New Hampshire. His career started as a teacher and he subsequently became an elemen- tary, middle school, and high school principal before ultimately becoming a superintendent of schools. Thereafter, he retired to pur- sue a childhood dream of breeding horses, dogs, and other farm ani- mals. This is the author's first published book and, as he says, "is an accurate account of his attempt to live his dream."
