About the Author

Paul Chapman is the founder and executive director of the Centercratic Party. He grew up in the Los Angeles area and now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife.His path to this role came from two distinct directions. He founded and ran his own consulting firm for twelve years, worked as a management consultant advising Fortune 100 companies, and eventually served as the chief information officer of a global apparel company, where he led a technology organization of more than one thousand employees. Today he is a managing partner at a board advisory firm in Silicon Valley.The other direction was academic. His education was entirely focused on political science. He earned his B.A. in political science from California State University, Long Beach, an M.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a focus on American political institutions and electoral systems, and doctoral coursework in American government and politics at UCLA. Long after his formal studies ended, he continued to research the American electoral system using his analytical and technology skills.For years the two sides of his work ran on separate tracks. His business life gave him the tools to diagnose complex systems and drive results. His academic life gave him the framework to understand American politics. It was only recently that his research into the American electoral system revealed the root issues, and the opportunity, at the heart of this book.Away from politics and the office, Paul raises koi and tends to his bonsai collection.
