Synopsis

To Borneo and Back: An Encounter with Dietrich Bonhoeffer requires one to confront costly grace. As Bonhoeffer said: "When Christ calls a man, he bids him to come and die." This challenge confronted Hipkins when he read Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship in 1959 and struggled to establish Church of the Savior in a new, affluent suburb of Montgomery, in Cincinnati, Ohio. From a guard post in Germany to a South India field clinic for people afflicted by leprosy, the writer's search for personal service leads through the snake infested jungles of Borneo. He invites you to take to the road with him
