About This Book (Kate Koala and Austin Alpaca face the Impossible Task)

Using the Pareto Principle (80/20 Rule) to work smart and not hard

There is a time and a place for perfection, but it might not be as often as you think. The Pareto Principle (also known as the 80/20 rule) suggests that you can usually get near- perfect outcomes with much less effort. Join Kate Koala and Austin Alpaca as they face an impossible task under a time crunch and have to make the hard choice to not let their ambition for “perfect” get in the way of “good enough.”

Why THE PARETO PRINCIPLE is Critical for Kids and Adults

The Pareto Principle can help manage perfectionism. Studies show that strong trends of perfectionism, particularly in young people, have been increasing over time driven by the higher expectations that people place on themselves and others (Curran, Hill, 2017). Though it’s sometimes beneficial, perfectionism can correlate heavily with self-esteem and other psychological difficulties at all ages (Moon, Stoeber, 2007) and can result in career burnout (Chang, Chou, Liou, Tu 2016).

About Younger Me Academy

Younger Me Academy was carefully designed by a Google strategist to be the "perfect children's picture book for the growth-oriented family."

Referred to by reviewers as "TED Talks in Storybook Form," each book uses a rhyming adventure story to introduce research-backed, life-long skills chosen for their importance in child AND adult development. They are inspired by global thought leaders like:

1. Carol Dweck, Stanford University professor and author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
2. Adam Grant, University of Pennsylvania professor and #1 New York Times Bestselling author of Give and Take and Originals
3. Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize winner in economics and author of Thinking Fast and Slow

...and more

The creation of the books was as scientifically rigorous as the research themes they are based on; hundreds of test readers were engaged in structured and unstructured testing over every decision, from the illustrators (100+ considered), to the rhyme structure, to the manuscripts (200+ drafts), book size, etc.
