Synopsis

The night fifteen-year-old Leah Ackerman finds her mother murdered, her father is standing over the body, smiling.

But whatever is hiding behind his eyes is not her father.

By morning, Leah is presumed dead, her home is rubble, and the demon wearing her father’s skin is hunting her.

Her estranged uncle hides her at a remote training outpost run by the Infinity Board, a secret order that ranks its members like pieces on a chessboard. There, Leah learns her mother was once one of its elite demon hunters, and that the power that leveled her home and saved her life came from Leah herself.

The Board teaches its Mystics to draw magic from the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and resist its corrupted reflection. But grief and rage make the Tree of Death frighteningly easy for Leah to reach.

As the Board buries secrets and the demon closes in, Leah must decide whether the order is protecting her or shaping her into its next weapon.

Killing the demon may be the only way to avenge her mother.

It may also kill the father still trapped inside.

DARK PAWN begins the completed six-book Leah Ackerman series.
A dark urban fantasy of demonic possession, Kabbalah magic, found family, and occult conspiracies.
