Martha Kemm Landes is a former music teacher who wrote numerous musicals and hundreds of songs for her students while teaching music in Oklahoma. She is most known for writing the state children's song of Oklahoma. After retiring early, Martha lives with her screenwriter husband and three adopted dogs just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Besides writing mystery novels, she travels, makes quilts and enjoys their log cabin in the nearby Jemez Mountains. Martha loves to be outdoors and finds the weather perfect in New Mexico for hiking, gardening and hosting weekly movies at their large backyard movie theater. Like Pity, Martha and her husband love movies so much they hold an annual Oscar Party, complete with their own "Not Quite the Oscars" spoofs of the nominated films.
