Eugene Jolas (1894–1952) was a writer, editor, translator, and critic. He co-founded the influential magazine transition in 1927, where he serialized James Joyce's Finnegans Wake and, with his wife Maria, published some of the earliest translations of Franz Kafka into English. He ceased editing in 1942 to aid the war effort as a journalist and translator.
