Synopsis

Did you know that learning to form letters activates the same part of the brain as reading?

You no longer have to waste time searching for age-appropriate ABC worksheets. Now you can enjoy a collection of kid-tested worksheets at your fingertips. Autumn McKay, author of The Ultimate Kindergarten Prep Guide, is a mother of 3 and understands the pressure to encourage learning at home, but it’s hard to find time. As a former schoolteacher, she has created Learning ABC’s Workbook to be an easy to use workbook so you have a no-prep activity ready for your child to learn at any moment.

Precursive is a “one-stroke” type of handwriting. It is still single letter formation, but involves a lot of retracing when forming letters so that the child does not have to pick up their pencil and remember the next step to a form a letter. Precursive is a stepping stone to cursive handwriting, which most schools have done away with; however, teaching precursive handwriting does not mean you need to teach your child cursive.

Print writing is the “ball and stick” writing like you see here in this text. It’s the font we are most used to seeing in our daily lives. A lot of schools have transitioned to only teaching handwriting using print font. However, print font can be difficult for young writers because it involves picking up the pencil and remembering the next “step” when forming a letter. Sometimes it’s difficult for young writers to remember the next “step.”

About the Author

Autumn began BestMomIdeas.com in 2016 to share tips and tricks with fellow moms she has learned on her motherhood journey. She calls her blog Best Mom Ideas because it's about moms creating a community to encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be! She wants to create a space where moms can feel understood and never judged. About Autumn... She has been happily married to her husband for nine years. They have three children--ages 6, 4, and 2 years old. In college, Autumn studied to become a teacher and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught in the classroom and as an online teacher. She has been certified to teach in California, Colorado, Arizona, and Georgia. However, one of Autumn's greatest joys (and challenges) is being a mom! After her first son was born in 2013, she wanted to be involved in helping him learn and grow, so she began to develop color lessons to help engage his developing mind. Autumn also wanted to help other moms dealing with hectic schedules and continuous time restraints. As a result, these activities evolved into her first book, Toddler Lesson Plans: Learning Colors. She has continued to create books for preschoolers, which include: - Toddler Lesson Plans: Learning ABC's - The Ultimate Toddler Activity Guide - The Ultimate Kindergarten Prep Guide - Learning Numbers Workbook - Learning ABC's Workbook: Print and Precursive When Autumn is not changing a diaper, she likes to play outside with her family, plan a dream vacation, or get lost in a good book.
