Three 1980s teenagers from different cliques learn they are all related when a Florida crime boss leaves them each stores in the local mall that are really fronts for the mob in this surprisingly touching genre mashup about family and fitting in. It's 1985 in suburban Florida...The QUARTERBACK, the PRINCESS and the GEEK all find out they're related when their real father, a low-level Florida crime boss, dies at the hands of the mafia and leaves them each a store inside the local mall. The catch is, the stores are fronts for the mob, and the teens must decide whether to break bad or try to go legit, all while trying to navigate all the high stakes John Hughes type high school drama of the 1980s. About the Authors
Don is the co-creator of History Channel's drama series KNIGHTFALL and producer of critically-acclaimed McDonald's origin story THE FOUNDER starring Michael Keaton. Handfield's first comic series The Rift was picked up by Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment for the final episode of the reboot of Amazing Stories anthology on Apple +. Handfield wrote and directed the Saturn Award winning film TOUCHBACK starring Kurt Russell. Handfield also wrote the novel, which was a top seller on Amazon and received a starred review from Publisher's Weekly.
Handfield grew up in Indiana and Northern Virginia, and went to college at The Ohio State University before moving to Los Angeles, where he currently resides with his wife and two kids.James Haick III is the writer and creator of the popular comic series SOLAR FLARE, LONG LIVE PRO WRESTLING, & THIRD WAVE 99. He also co-created/co-wrote THE MALL with writer/producer Don Handfield. James is also the President of Scout Comics & Entertainment, Inc and heads the website and marketing division of the company. He has years of sales experience and continues to manage his own financial services practice in Bonita Springs Florida.
