Synopsis

The Bible consists of 66 books written by different authors over 1500 years. Since one author did not write it at one time, at some point, it was put together in one volume. That raises some questions. When was it formatted? Who determined which books to include and which books to exclude? Are there any books in the Bible that should not be there? Are there "lost books" of the Bible that ought to be in the Bible but, for some reason, did not make it?

The answer often given to those questions is that a council did it. In the case of the Old Testament, one theory is that Ezra and the men of the Great Synagogue did it.
