The simple machine used as a point of departure in this volume is the lever and fulcrum. Once beyond this introduction, the focus of the book shifts to "putting ideas together." That is, using multiple simple machines to solve a common problem.

Dr. Tino is the pen name of Ernest R. Lanza, Ed. D., a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with Certifications in • School Psychology • Counseling • Guidance, and • Elementary education Dr. Lanza earned his B.A. (With Distinction) in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, his M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from Arizona State University, and his Ed. D. in Counseling and Guidance from Ball State University. Over the course of his 40 years as a clinician and educator, Dr. Lanza discovered that he has a knack for teaching children of elementary school age and younger. In keeping with this realization, he founded a company called T-inovations (a play on his pen name), and has written and published 15 books that specifically serve this age range. Beyond his accomplishments as an educator and psychologist, Dr. Lanza is also an, inventor, a composer, and an entrepreneur.
