He was involved with the International Geophysical Year and the Moonwatch Program and was the editor and publisher of Popular Astronomy magazine in the 1970s. He is the author of the first edition of this book. Philip Seldon is the founding editor and publisher of Popular Astronomy magazine and the coauthor of The Smart Guide to Astronomy. He lives in New York City.
