When Dennis Devore returned to his hotel room after his late night radio program the last thing he was expecting to find was a beautiful woman. Particularly when she was one he had never seen before. Particularly when she was dead, stabbed, and lying in a pool of blood. Of course, it was only natural that the police should suspect him, a stranger from out of town and seemingly with no past. About the Author

Little information is available about Dorothy Bennett. It would appear that she grew up in Berkeley, California and probably went to the university there. Her mother was Mary Richardson Bennett, to whom she dedicated a murder mystery in the form of a poem entitled How Strange a Thing which was published in 1935, the same year as Murder Unleashed. Evidence indicates that she is not the same person as the playwright and screenwriter Dorothy Bennett, who wrote the screenplay for The Brasher Doubloon, the movie based on Raymond Chandler’s The High Window.
