Probably, two of the oldest questions humans have asked themselves since they became conscious of their own existence and that of the world surrounding them are: Where did we come from and where are we going? These questions have been the subject of inquiry by both religion and philosophy for most of the time since then. It is only in the last few centuries that science has evolved to the point at which it could begin to contribute significantly to answering these questions. God In Our Time is one man's attempt, using the latest scientific findings, to argue that a good case can be made for the involvement of a Creator in the emergence of the universe, of life in general, and that of human life in particular. The incredible complexity of life, and the fact that human life evolved despite the staggering odds against it, are just some reasons why the author believes that life did not appear on earth just by chance. Also, there are may phenomena that cannot be explained by existing scientific theories. THe writer believes that the universe is a far more spiritual place than some scientists would have us believe. If this is true, the older materialistic/deterministic view of the universe is no longer valid.
