About the Author

Lisa Ackerson Lieberman, MSW, LCSW, has been a clinical social worker doing psychotherapy in private practice for 29 years. She received her master's in social work from San Diego State. Earlier in her career, she taught college courses in such areas as the psychology of stress, assertiveness, positive parenting, and effective step-parenting. After her son, Jordan, was diagnosed with autism in 1990, Lisa decided to specialize in living with disability in the family. She is a frequent speaker at national conferences. Her passion is helping parents learn to navigate the emotional journey when parenting children with a disability.
