The Olivares family arrived in the United States in 1971 and opened their first restaurant in Underground Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. With the renovations of Underground Atlanta, they relocated to other Atlanta areas. Their twenty year old establishment in Stockbridge, Georgia, The Guadalajara Restaurant, had a consistent reputation for fine food and a relaxing atmosphere. With thirty years of experience, they opened Rico's on June 6th, 2002, in memory of one of the Olivares sons who served two decades in the United States Navy. Rico is also short for Ricardo Olivares, Sr. whom everyone knows for his exquisite recipes. Ricardo cooks authentic Mexican foods with a twist of his own exotic creations.
