About the Author
James Joyce is regarded as one of the English language's greatest writers, and 2022 will mark the centenary of the publication of his masterpiece Ulysses, perhaps the most famous Irish book ever, which is celebrated in Dublin every year on 16th June in the major tourist event known as Bloomsday.

It was an old French story but Joyce gave the mayor the name of a famous mayor of his own home town of Dublin in Ireland: the popular politician and character, Alfie Byrne.
