Since its inception, the European Union has developed to become an open and transparent system which is democratically accountable to more than five hundred million European citizens. About the Author
James Elles was a British Conservative Member of the European Parliament from 1984 to 2014. He is the Co-Founder of the European Internet Forum; the Founder and Chairman of the Transatlantic Policy Network; and the Founder and Honorary President of the European Strategy and Policy Analysis System, which focuses on long-term trends.
