In the twelve poems presented here she demonstrates an individual voice that many a more seasoned poet would kill for. This is poetry from the messy world of real life, where going through the mill and the mire 'Stellared, smoking, sinning, choking', is all part of the party. Sally has an exceptional ability to capture a moment not only as a well crafted image but as an adept evocation of the emotion we feel in our hearts and stomachs. A confident debut from a poet whose name will become familiar.

Sally Jenkinson was born in Doncaster in 1986. She likes eaves dropping, far away adventures, shabby seaside towns and cider. Sally is co-queen (with Liz Greenfield) of one of Bristol's biggest live poetry nights, Poetry Pulpit, and runs the Bristol branch of Hammer & Tongue. She programmes the poetry stages for the Shambala and Boomtown Festivals and has recently worked as a Poet Coach as part of Apples and Snakes' Shake The Dust project. All this arts based work is a bit sporadic and unreliable though, so she would like it on record that she is also, and always will be, an exemplary barmaid.
