Synopsis

Khojaly : A Play about Surviving shares the memories of the people whose lives were changed forever by the massacre that took place in February 1992 of the Azerbaijani inhabitants of Khojaly, a community in Nagorno-Karabakh riven by a war that lasted from 1988 to 1994. Created by Debunk Theatre from the words and testimony of the survivors in interviews carried out in Azerbaijan, six characters take to the stage to step forward and tell their personal stories in the form of a testimonial drama about escape and exile. At the same time, the characters recall how normal life was for them in their hometown before the violence, how the different communities once came together - and why today they still keep hope in their hearts.
