This is a walking book with a difference! The Tonbridge Circular Walk follows the footsteps of 24 lords and knights who walked around the lands of Tonbridge Castle in the 13th century. The route was recorded on a piece of parchment kept in Canterbury Cathedral. This book links up places on the route using public footpaths to make a 33 mile circuit. Directions are given for this circuit divided into 12 stages; for two 25 mile walks each taking in half the route starting and finishing at Tonbridge Castle; and also for 15 short circular walks covering the whole route. The countryside around Tonbridge is extraordinarily beautiful and varied with wonderful views and a fascinating history.
