Synopsis

So, with a great sense of hope, and some sadness, and with the concerns, successes and failures of everyday folk, Perth set off on what blurb writers might describe as a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs, twists and jolts, through the 20th century. In 2012, the ancient honour of Perth was restored when it became a city again.

Jeremy Duncan narrates Perth's journey from city to town and back again. Duncan's thouroughly researched account includes archive and modern images and newspaper reports, and covers every aspect of Perth life, taking the reader on a remarkable journey from past to present.
