Catherine Hanley holds a PhD in Mediaeval Studies from Sheffield University and is the author of War and Combat 1150-1270: The evidence from Old French Literature, as well as numerous learned articles on the period. She has also written extensively on cricket - a rather different manifestation of warfare! The Sins of the Father is her first novel.
