Synopsis

'extremus' is packed with original, striking and hugely entertaining short stories, poems and scripts from some of the UK’s most exciting new writers. Collectively identified as the students and alumni of the Birmingham City University Creative Writing programme, they range from previously unpublished authors to the winner of the 2010 Impress Prize for New Writers and Birmingham’s current Poet Laureate. The BCU course is the only graduate programme in the UK that is supported by the National Academy of Writing. Founded in 2007 to create a school for aspiring writers with demonstrable talent the course embraces the NAW’s ‘conservatoire’ approach to teaching adopted by the performing arts, allowing participants to develop their skills as novelists, poets, playwrights, screenwriters and non-fiction writers.
