Synopsis
The IT industry is currently responsible for the same level of carbon emissions as the aviation industry, and experts predict that these emissions will actually double in the next few years. There is a common consensus across all industry sectors that organisations have a responsibility to cut their carbon dioxide emissions if the effects of climate change are to be addressed. In fact, recent EU and UK Government legislation make it mandatory for organisations to do so, and those organisations are increasingly looking towards their IT functions to lead the way and assist them in becoming greener. The book provides a fundamental understanding of the importance of IT when trying to achieve an organisation's green objectives. It gives advice and guidance on creating an action list to identify and address Green IT requirements. The book is primarily aimed at IT service providers but also contains advice, hints and tips for the general IT user.

About the Author
Mark O'Neill is an IT Professional with 20 years' experience, including senior roles and large scale ITSM and Infrastructure implementation programmes. He has extensive experience in Best Practice consultancy and training. Recently appointed Head of Service Management and Green IT Learning Consultancy, he was responsible for developing the first officially accredited Green IT training course.
