Synopsis

Beneath the dark canopy of impenetrable tropical forests Fayzella dreams strange dreams of a white-faced man and woman.

Then she escapes the brutish depravity of primitive clans and enters a man-made jungle ruled by the pale-skinned creatures of her dreamlife.

She finds herself thrust into another nightmare … facing demons of prejudice, sin, lies and intrigue to untangle the twisted roots of her past.

Fayzella's quest to discover the truth of her life sweeps from Stone Age to Computer Age. It will haunt you long, long after you have reluctantly turned the last page.

From the Author

A Tangle of Roots is a work of fiction. It is important to stress that none of the characters described here are intended to represent any real person, living or dead. However, while the story is fictitious, some of the incidents described will strike a chord in the minds of many people.

In the nineteen fifties and sixties, attitudes towards sex and pregnancy were far removed from those of today. It is a matter of record that thousands of young, unmarried mothers in various countries were unfairly pressured into having their babies adopted. Many of their stories make painful reading. And the legacy of those days is still with us; testing the courage of people now searching for their birth mothers.

Sadly, reunions between offspring and their birth mothers often fail because of a lack of understanding on both sides. The whole process is a minefield of difficulties and should never be entered into without considerable thought and guidance.
If this book helps in some small way to promote that understanding, and so smooth the path of just one successful reunion, it will have been a worthwhile project.
