9781904485421: Classic Knits for Real Women

Synopsis

Classic Knits for Real Women is in response to the many women
who have been asking for great designs in larger sizes. With more than 35
great designs for all seasons, including jackets, cardigans, sweaters, tops
and accessories in Rowan and Jaeger yarns, in sizes from 14 to 24, in
themed colour palettes.

The designs in this book are eminently wearable and also wonderfully
versatile. They can be dressed up for an evening out or down for a day in
the country or walk in the park, and there is a variety of neckline, length
and sleeve options. All the designs are knitted in a range of yarns
suitable for all season, from cottons of different weights to merino wool
and a few wonderfully soft novelty yarns.

Classic yet contemporary, with a great modern twist on traditional knits,
the designs in this book are sure to become much-loved favourites of every
woman who wants to be able to knit great sweaters for every occasion.
Designed by Martin Storey, Rowan's ever popular designer, aided and abetted
by Sharon Brant, who brings her unrivalled knowledge of the craft from her
role as first a design consultant and then a retail manager for Rowan, this
book fills a much needed gap in the market.

About the Author

Martin Storey was taught to knit as a child in East Yorkshire by
his inspirational primary school teacher, who saw nothing unusual in
teaching needlecrafts to boys and girls. This experience gave him a love
of dewing and hand-knitting that resurfaced in his early 20s when he
studied fashion at Middlesex University. After leaving university, Martin
worked as a costume designer in advertising, before jointing the acclaimed
knitwear design company, Artwork, for whom he worked for 15 years as a
knitwear designer and pattern writer. Martin joined Rowan in 2001 and has
been responsible for designing the highly successful Jaeger hand-knit
collections.

Sharon Brant has been Rowan's retail manager since 1995, and is also
responsible for their team of countrywide design consultants, and for their
extensive workshop programme. A passionate knitter since childhood, she
has run her own business for 17 years, and has contributed to TV
productions and films, such as Harry Potter, The Philosopher's Stone, and
The Phantom of the Opera. She has also contributed to several books, and
provides technical support and pattern writing for knitwear designers Kaffe
Fassett and Brandon Mably.
