Secondly It provides examples of how the identified progression in learning can be used to create a curriculum design. It provides examples for foundation stage planning as well as for Years 1 and 2. The planning introduces the concept of learning challenges, posed as questions to focus attention. Thirdly It provides examples of how the progression of learning charts can be used to help organise your observation of learning in the foundation stage and beyond. In Conclusion The book has been produced as a direct result of the many requests the author has had to develop a system that uses the six areas of learning through until the end of Year 2. It can be used in conjunction with A Curriculum that Matters , another publication from the same author but has been designed as a stand alone book aimed particularly at Infant and Nursery Schools.

About the Author

Clive Davies has a vast experience in primary education. He has inspected more than 200 schools. Whilst a headteacher Clive s school gained a National Curriculum award and his school was featured in the Times Educational Supplement as one of 3 recognised for its quality practice. The development of pupil autonomy was at the heart of the culture of his successful headships. Clive is well known nationally and internationally having worked in schools throughout England and Wales as well as Dubai, Kuwait, Greece, Turkey, Holland, Cyprus, Germany and Spain. He was awarded an OBE for his services to education in 2007.
