About the Author

Murtada Mutahhari was born near Mashjhad in 1920. He began his studies at Qum where he was greatly influenced by Ayatollah Khomeini's teachings on Islamic ethics, and later studied metaphysics and jurisprudence before teaching at the universities of Qum and Tehran. He was assassinated in 1979.
