Steve MacLuskie works at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where teaches on the BA Production Technology and Management programme in his role as Lecturer in Stage Technology. Born in 1969 he developed an interest in backstage theatre work while at school and became involved with the local Amateur Dramatic Club doing lighting, sound and stage management. He attended Queen Margaret University and graduated with merits in Stage Design and Stage Management and then went on to work in many Scottish theatres including the Byre Theatre, Pitlochry Festival Theatre & Citizens Theatre. In 1995 Steve joined the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama as a technician and began to work his way up the career ladder, eventually completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Arts Education and securing the role of Lecturer. As well as teaching Vectorworks, Steve also teaches rigging, technical management, automation, counterweight flying and many other related skills. He also works closely with student designers on the BA Production Arts and Design programme finding technical staging solutions. Steve has spoken and delivered papers at many conferences and events and in 2012 he won a JISC iTech award for his work using online technologies for teaching and assessment. Steve was a member of PLASA s European Board from 2012-2015 and currently teaches on the ABTT Bronze Technicians Award.
