Synopsis

This is one of a series of course books for students, teaching the skills required to make full and effective use of modern software. It can be used as a course text for group learning, or individually for independent learning.
The series covers the key Microsoft Office 2000 components of Access, Excel and Word, and for each of these applications there is an introductory and an advanced book.

This advanced book does not assume any previous knowledge of Word 2000, but it introduces the concepts and functions of Word at a rapid pace.

The approach of the book is that the user will be able to learn by doing. Each topic includes exercises to complete which illustrate the theory and help to reinforce learning.

From the Author

This book is designed for anyone who has basic word processing skills and wishes to improve these using Word 2000. It takes a step-by-step approach and includes many exercises that offer the opportunity to practise and further develop word processing skills. Although primarily aimed at students, it is also excellent for anyone who wishes to learn how to use the many features offered by Word, either for work or personal interest.

The book focuses on learning by doing through tasks and activities. Each topic gives you a number of exercises to complete. In each topic, the relevance and function of the new concepts are explained, and detailed instructions are given on how to carry out the exercises. As you work through the book you will gradually build up a set of documents for a fictitious holiday complex. Later exercises re-use documents created earlier to avoid excessive keying of text. However, in order to avoid too much focus on the same documents, new documents are also introduced throughout the book.
