Synopsis

This is one of a series of course books for students, teaching the skills required to make full and effective use of modern software. It can be used as a course text for group learning, or individually for independent learning.
The series covers the key Microsoft Office 2000 components of Access, Excel and Word, and for each of these applications there is an introductory and an advanced book.

This advanced book does not assume any previous knowledge of Access 2000, but it introduces concepts and functions at a rapid pace, and deals with advanced features of the software.

The approach of the book is that the user will be able to learn by doing. Each topic includes exercises to complete which illustrate the theory and help to reinforce learning.

From the Author

This book is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to use Access 2000. It begins in an introductory way, leading into exercises that cover many of Access’ database management features. Although primarily aimed at students in further and higher education, it is also excellent for anyone who wishes to teach themselves access, either for work or personal interest.

The unique and popular feature of the book is the focus on tasks and activities. Each topic gives you a number of exercises to complete. In each topic, the relevance and function of the new concepts are explained, and detailed instructions are given on how to carry out the exercises. As you work through the book you will gradually build up a database application for Total Health and Fitness, a fictitious sports and fitness activities facility. Later exercises use tables, forms, queries and reports that you have created earlier in the book, so that instead of re-working basic operations you are continually refining your application.
