Synopsis
The illustrated story of the Luftwaffe's premier fighter defense unit. Tasked with defending the skies over the Third Reich, Jagdgeschwader 1 numbered among its ranks some of the Luftwaffe's leading fighter aces including Heinz B\228r, Walter Oesau and Herbert Ihlefeld. These are the first two volumes in a substantially revised three-volume study of Eric Mombeek's classic work. Many of the 750 photos that will appear throughout this new edition are new and not contained in earlier editions and will be accompanied by 90 new full color profiles (throughout the three volumes) of the unit's Bf 109s and Fw 190s by acclaimed American aviation artist, Tom Tullis.
