Synopsis
'Artworks On ... Work'
Work is part of the fabric that is tied to all of our lives. Its role in society consists of many parts: economic, social, historical, and political. It is this importance and meaning that attracts artists, for example, eager to explore the humanity in an industrial landscape or the relationship between farming and the land.
The 'Artworks On ...' series is a series of eight lively illustrated art resource books for use in school and at home. A fun learning tool for children at Key Stage 2 (ages 8 to 11) and above, the series explores a range of cross-curricular themes within the context of art. Distinctly Welsh in flavour, the books feature examples of artworks by well-known artists in Wales, past and present. These challenging and dynamic learning materials will instruct and inspire young artists to explore their imaginations. Teachers will also find the timely ideas and background information a valuable addition to their lesson plans and teaching resources.
Each book in the series contains:
· a featured artist with biographical information and examples of artwork
· examples of related contextual artworks by other artists
· four original art projects with step-by-step instructions
· historical information
· art terms and useful art tips

'Artworks On ... Work' features the work of artist Will Roberts.
A full-colour A2 classroom poster illustrating an artwork by each featured artist is also available separately. As a set, the series makes a wonderful teaching aid for exploring art thematically within a Welsh context.
