Set in comptemporary London, this is the screenplay for British writer/director Peter Howitt's film "Sliding Doors", starring Gwyneth Paltrow as Helen and John Hannah as James. Helen is a successful PR executive who, unexpectedly fired from work, returns home earlier than usual. On her way to tell her partner Gerry (John Lynch) of her tragic day, Helen misses the tube, watching as the sliding doors close off one potential outcome of her story. But what if she had made the train? If so, she would have been sat next to a charming stranger, James, and made it home in time to find philandering Gerry still in bed with his ex-girlfriend Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn). Two alternative futures wend their way towards a single romantic destiny.
