Nicholas moved to Folkestone in 2003, when he started to publish books on the locality. He has also been active in the pressure group Go Folkestone. Lilburne Press published Nicholas's Smuggling in Folkestone in 2005, and has been publishing the monthly magazine Folkestone Creative since July of that year. In 2007 Lilburne Press published a book on local man, William Harvey, by Paul Harris, while this is Nicholas's second local history book on the Folkestone area.
