This book is all about helping people to control smaller projects in a logical and effective way, without incurring the high overheads that come with the project management methods, tools and techniques that are now being used so effectively on large projects and within large organisations.
The Smaller Projects (SP) Method is designed for use both by complete newcomers to project management and those with some experience. It is logical and practical so that it can be applied to a single, small project, or to a portfolio of many smaller projects within an organisation.
The danger, especially in larger organisations, is that smaller projects are left to their own devices while ignoring the fact that together they may represent a significant financial risk that is not being effectively controlled. The only safe and effective way of controlling such activities is to apply the principles of project management.
This book takes those basic principles and gives you the basis for your own project control system.
